Participation of five group members in CIADICYP 2024

14 nov 2024

Five oral communications have been delivered by LEPAMAP-PRODIS members in the 13th edition of CIADICYP, held by Universidad de ConcepciĆ³.

The Iberoamerican Congress on Pulp and Paper Research (CIADICYP) held its recent conference from November 4-7, 2023, in ConcepciĆ³n (Chile), under the motto Building bridges between technology and sustainability. This event, now in its 13th edition, has long been a key meeting for experts and researchers in the pulp and paper industry. Key topics included sustainable materials, circular bioeconomy, end-of-cycle techniques, nanocellulose, preservation of ecosystems, and applications of artificial intelligence, with presentations by distinguished industry experts, consolidated researchers, and PhD candidates.

Many good things could be said of this conference. It has counted with talks from renowned researchers such as Soledad Peresin and Orlando Rojas. It has taken place in the magnificent campus of Universidad de ConcepciĆ³n, shown below. It has included a Scientific Table session in a bar (or should we say, Scientic Beer). But let us not forget that five LEPAMAP-PRODIS members have delivered talks. NĆŗria Fiol, Roberto J. Aguado, and Samanta Sam dealt with active packaging with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, in the frame of project NextPack. Quim TarrĆ©s exposed the opportunities for composites including banana fiber and plastic taps, matching the outline of project CICEP. Marc Delgado-Aguilar's presentation, related to project ArtInNano, implied steps forward for the industrial implementation of the TEMPO-mediated oxidation of cellulose.
